“A Brilliant Find”
-
Review from TripAdvisor
I've got to be honest and say that this was the nearest B & B that I could find for Bristol during the weekend of the balloon festival. But fate dealt me a great hand. It is 20 mins away from Bristol but in the middle of some lovely North Somerset Countryside and yet only 10 mins from the M5, so handy if you need a stop-over on the way to Devon & Cornwall. The view from Room 3 was superb as were all the facilities. The furniture is all good, "shabby chic" stuff, some of it, really quite stylish. The staff were very friendly and relaxed, the food very good, if a little basic but the Manager reports that a new menu is on the way. All ingredients are fresh & local. All in all, a real find.
“Didn't want to check out”

Review from TripAdvisor
We loved it - from the moment we arrived to our reluctant departure - everything was just so NICE! Staff are super friendly, the interior design is LUSH, the food is really good, looking around the restaurant everyone was tucking in and enjoying whatever it was that was in front of them - whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner and we sampled it all! Bed was MASSIVE with good linen, loved the cafetiere coffee, sweet toiletries, the towels were GOOD. Everything was quality and tastefully put together.
So the negatives...no biscuits to go with said coffee, needed a moisturiser to go with lovely toiletries, an iron and board in the room and bathrobes and slippers and you'd of had to get the police in to remove me from the property!
“Fab valentine's meal”
-
We have always enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality of the Battleaxes and our Valentine's meal was no exception. Excellent sharing platter starter and beautifully cooked and presented main courses. The wine was also delightful. Many thanks to all the staff who were attentive but not pushy.
“Excellent food, lovely staff & fantastic overall experience”
-
We regularly dine at The Battleaxes and each time the experience has been great. The burgers are amazing, the sandwiches are yummy and there is always a fantastic selection of desserts available. The menu offers a lot of choices and there is always something new to try.
The restaurant and pub are really cosy and they have recently opened the bottom bar up as a cider bar - definitely worth a visit if you haven't already!!
All of the members of staff are lovely and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and nothing is ever too much trouble.
We also regularly do the pub quiz that is held on the Monday evening at 8pm and it is brilliant fun - highly recommended!
