Superb fresh food at The Castle Inn

Please don't imagine us to be a "gastro pub"... by this we simply wish to emphasise that we are not a restaurant masquerading as a pub... we just love to serve fresh, good food at a reasonable price!

Our approach to dining is simple and informal; we operate a non-reservation policy of first come, first served, you order at the bar, and you can eat wherever you want - easy!

All of our dishes are produced on the premises by proper chefs and the menus are designed to satisfy the smallest to largest of appetites.

Food at The Castle Inn is served all day, everyday. From 8am 'til Noon (10am on Sundays) we serve a comprehensive breakfast/brunch menu including an inventive vegetarian twist on the Full English. From Noon 'til 10pm we serve the main menu with its mix of pub 'classics', comfort food and grazing - and then a thigh slapping Sunday Roast from noon and a vegetarian option too.

Real ale at The Castle

.

Real ale makes us smile due to a mixture of loving it, and having to taste it. We are passionate about what we do and love to provide our guests with a rotating guest ale, plus our Flatcapper ale is a firm favourite.

Recently we have had Glastonbury Ales Golden Chalice, Bath Ales Forest Hare and Milk Streets Funky Monkey (not just because of the name).. it is delish..!

Our wines are carefully hand picked so offer a balance between good foody wines, and really punchy wine to be drunk on their own. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Saxon churches in

Built by the nuns of Shaftesbury Abbey, this is one of the oldest buildings in , today the church is still used as a place of worship by the congregation of Holy Trinity as well as other Christian groups.

A beautiful place to visit in .

The Tithe Barn

The Tithe Barn was built in the early 14th century as part of the medieval farmstead belonging to Shaftesbury Abbey.

Tripadvisor Reviews...

  • “Excellent Stay”

This place has clicked on to the secret of what makes a nice place to stay, i.e. attention to detail and good service. They have both in spades here. Our room was excellent, both spacious and comfortable. Super king-sized bed, lovely bed linen, walk-in monsoon shower, choice of loose-leaf tea in the room etc etc. Breakfast served up until noon and very nice it is too. Freshly squeezed juice means just that. The staff were all young people and unfailingly polite and helpful. We came back to the hotel to find the car park full so one of the staff moved their car to let us in. Its that kind of place.

Stayed June 2016, travelled as a couple.

  • “Another Fab Visit”

Took the kids out for the day and stopped off here for a late lunch having been many times before. As always staff are great, I had a Sunday lunch (can never resist) and D had cottage pie both were delicious! Great options for kids not just your usual chips meals are £5 including an ice cream!! We all ate and had a few drinks whilst sitting in the sun and bill came to £70. Love love the Castle and will definitely be returning.

Stayed August 2016, travelled with family.
